Weekly roundup
Welcome, Friends
I’m not really a Black Friday Gal. That being said, I do have some pretty exciting pre-holiday discounts on offer. Thing is, I want you to be well-resourced for the holiday season (and have plenty ideas for self-resourcing through winter). I’m also moving from the “allowing-to-expand” stage of GlobalGalLexi to the “strategic”phase. (Read more about that here).
In addition to the discounts, we have two wildly different takes on setting intentions, a seemingly easy sleep hygiene tip, more Insight Timer recommendations & my first FAQ.
Don’t forget to RSVP for the Self-Care, Soul Care: Tending to Our Soul Houses with Practical Magic workshop coming at the end of the month.
PS: I do not receive a commission for links to Insight Timer or anything else in my newsletter. I link to what’s truly valuable.

How-to Practice
Shift Your Intention-Setting, Shift Your Perspective
Consider pendulating between curiosity and clarity in order to manifest.
If you’ve been following along, you know that I’ve been spicing up my morning routine. My very grounded, 20-or-so-year practice of meditating and doing yoga has evolved over the past month. Invigorating is the word I’d use to describe it now. I’ve moved swamping to the morning instead of evening. I also revisited Sarah Jenks’ Sacred Start Guide*, where some of her suggestions overlap with Mama Gena and Sarah Tacy (genius behind the other neurosomatic embodiment workshop I took last month). And I’ve added a few intentional steps to the meditation aspect. It doesn’t add a lot of time, and I really look forward to waking up now (and getting to bed a little earlier in order to do so).
But I’ve also put a spin on my intention-setting and manifestation, I highly recommend:
Ask a question.
On Sarah Tacy’s Threshold Moments podcast, she explores the concept of wonder (as also included in her 21 Days of Untapped Support and highlighted in Jenks’ Sacred Start Guide). Sometimes we set our intentions and become so resolute, we unintentionally transform our intention into a resolution we must achieve as opposed to manifest.
But she says, what if we ask a question of the Universe about possibilities? She conjures up Brigit Viksnins’ phrases “Show me…” “Surprise and delight me…”, or asking an “I wonder” question, and allowing that answer to come to us. She says “the ego wants clarity, but the soul loves space for curiosity.” When we do this, we become open to receiving something that may be bigger and better than we imagined.
By determining the thing we’re manifesting, we become attached to it. It’s hard to be unattached when we’re thirsty—for the home, the baby, the relationship, the health test results. But when we ask a question, we can remain unattached and perhaps a more ideal opportunity opens for us. Here are a few I’ve asked recently (I direct my wonderings to Goddess or the Universe, depending on how I am guided) in that moment:
“I wonder what my life would look if I liberated myself from my own rigidity.”
“Surprise and delight me while conspiring with me to develop and present my next workshop.” (And so it was.)
“Show me the path for providing physical security and financial stability for myself and my family that is aligned with my purpose and results in sustainable abundance.” (Or something along those lines.)
The practice is so effective that I often don’t remember what I asked, try to force it, or “check for signs” to see how it’s manifesting, fully highlighting how unattached it allows us to remain.
I highly recommend this episode as Tacy gets into both the science and the spirit of manifesting.
Don’t stop there, though.
The process includes daydreaming and feeling into what is good now. Neurosomatic relaxed money guru Kate Northrup says when we celebrate our blessings, we open ourselves up to more blessings. ‘Tis true.
We can do hard things while being kind with ourselves.

Self-Care, Soul Care: Tending to Our Portals of Transformation with Practical Magic
Tuesday, October 28 | 5:15-7:15PM at Mr. Rabbit Coffee
What if your daily rituals are actually portals to your deepest healing?
The Soul Houses—the 4th, 8th, and 12th houses of the zodiac—hold our ancestral patterns, unprocessed trauma, unconscious emotions, and the shadows we're here to transform. These are the sacred spaces where we meet family wounds, navigate grief, and face what lives beneath the surface.
But here's the practical magic: Your everyday self-care isn't separate from this deep work. Your sleep rituals, nourishment practices, embodied movement—these 6th house daily devotions create the foundation that makes soul work sustainable. When we tend to our bodies with sacred attention, we're preparing ourselves to dive into the transformation the soul houses offer.
Join us Tuesday, October 28 (5:15-7:15PM at Mr. Rabbit Coffee) as we explore how daily rituals become gateways to profound healing. Perfect timing: a rare grand water trine from October 24-31 activates all three soul houses simultaneously, creating cosmic support for this work. And it's just in time for Samhain, Halloween, and Día de los Muertos—when the veil thins and we're called to honor our ancestors and our own becoming. We'll journey together through:
🌠 Understanding YOUR personal 4th, 6th, 8th, and 12th houses
☸ Linking daily self-care to shadow work and soul healing
🧘Somatic practices: dance, meditation, breathwork, journaling
🦂 Working with ancestral and seasonal energies
$54 includes birth chart analysis of your soul houses + tea drink
This isn't surface-level self-care. This is tending to the portals where transformation actually happens. When we honor both the practical and the profound, healing becomes sustainable and our authentic Self can fully emerge.
Astrology of the Week
Sneak Peek
Astrology of the Week
The upcoming astrology is BIG and delicious. Not only do we have our first new moon since the end of eclipse season, but we have a grand trine (that’s when a triangle is formed by planets that are four houses away from each other) in Pisces, Scorpio, and Cancer. Transformative energy coming in hot—and Jupiter’s involved so it’s GOOD.
I’m giving newsletter readers a sneak peek of that, and you can read it all for yourself on the blog later this week.
The Self-Care, Soul Care workshops centers on these themes. RSVP to join us at Mr. Rabbit October 28.
This Libra New Moon is a Major Portal
🌚This New Moon is BIG. It's our first since eclipse season, and it's in Libra, the home of Venus and where the sun is now. The eclipse portal is officially closed. Onward and forward we go. Now’s the time we alchemize the learnings and transformations that occurred over the past two months or so, and integrate with a new focus. The last full moon was in Aries, highlighting our relationships to ourselves and to others 🌝. Now we turn our eyes to the whole: how is this story working out for everyone involved? For all of us?
⚖️Libra is the sign of justice, balance, fairness, and harmony. Venus, ruler of Libra, facilitates that, plus connection, social cohesion, beauty, art, our values, sensuality, and unity. She’s in her home sign adding a layer of support to Luna, who’s imbued with the signature of relationships. It’s good jawn since Venus is one of the two benefic planets.
Today, we set intentions with these qualities in mind. Your intention might be a nod to what you intend to manifest over the course of the cycle, or it might be a question or an invitation to the Universe: “Show me how to be authentic and honest in my relationships so I can nurture the bonds with my beloveds and growth in my partnerships.” Or, “show me the path to compassion for all so I can contribute to our collective healing.” Or whatever.
What can you embrace or release to cultivate harmony in your relationships, partnerships, and/or love? 💗
One FAQ
Ask GlobalGalLexi
When I was a kid, people would say I was psychic. I definitely “felt” energy and assumed that intuiting the thin line between life and the other worlds was normal. Yes, things I said were often true or came true, but this was likely less prediction and likely more intuition. I also did not know how to manage my energy or that I could “do” anything with it; I lived in my emotions as a teen. If I ever was psychic, it was not a gift I nurtured. I now know that this identification as a ‘psychic’ is that I am an intuit. An intuit is someone whose primary sense is perception and they gain an inordinate amount of information through subtle insights—we’re insightful. We are more in-tune with the energy around us and in the Universe. We process information viscerally. The talent comes in learning to trust and hone that intuition, and tap into it at will. I also channel.
This shows up in my chart in my 11th and 12th houses, primarily. My 11th house is in Scorpio, where my moon and Uranus are, and Venus and my midheaven are in an exact conjunction. Uranus, the planet of breakthroughs and awakenings, is exalted in Scorpio (as much as a modern planet can be exalted), and the midheaven (MC) is our purpose. Sometimes it aligns with our career and the 10th house, other times it does not. Eros also lives in my 11th (all of this in Scorpio is also very sexy 😉). In total, my 11th house represents how I bring my gifts to the community and The Collective. Honing in on my midheaven is why I finally feel aligned with my Self—by doing this work.
In my 12th house—the house of the soul, behind-the-scenes life, the unconscious and subconscious—are my sun, and Neptune, Mercury, and Mars conjunct. Ha! And yes, it did feel like a cruel joke until I understood how to work with my astrological signature. This puts me in Pisces territory even though my sun sign is Sagittarius. We live in the mystical.
With most of my personal planets in these houses, an inordinate amount of energy from my chart goes here. The energy of 8 of my houses point to the 11th and 12th (the 12th house representing my inner, spiritual life, and the 11th how I connect with community).
When I do not trust my intuition, my life can go terribly awry.

My Favorite Insight Timer Teachers & Tracks
To help folks with the overwhelm that comes with downloading and using Insight Timer in its 9th or 10th year, I’m highlighting some of my favorite teachers, artists, and tracks. I couldn’t imagine adding the app Insight Timer to my toolkit in 2025. There are nearly 300,000 free meditations and tracks, and more than 20,000 teachers.
When you find a teacher you like, be sure to follow them so you receive notifications when they are hosting a live mediation or they publish a new track or course.
I’m sharing these in no particular order. I hope by paring them down, you’ll find some teachers who fit your needs. Check out last week’s list.
Meditative music and mantras
🎻 The Wong Janice—A cellist, her music is gorgeous. Some of it is centered around themes like gratitude, or the chakras or other areas you might want to work with.
🧑🎤 The Bhaktas—This version of Ra Ma Da Sa is my most-listened to track on IT ever. It’s what I usually do bedtime yoga to, but it’s wonderful anytime you need a beautiful, soothing track to melt to.
🎵 Many tracks by East Forest are recorded live, and range from grounding to uplifting. I use Heavenly Uplift (exactly as it sounds) sometimes with my morning yoga, and I also love The Shamanic Dive.
💝 Claim Your Joy Rama Mantra—If you’ve attended one of my workshops, you likely heard this gorgeous, bright and elevating track somewhere near the end. It’s one of the most beautiful twists on mantra I’ve come across. Need a mood lift—this is it.
🎶 Soulful Soundwaves—Another group whose music is divinely uplifting. Some of their tracks are a bit longer, so I might use Crystal Reflections: Crystal Reflections Calming and Restorative when I take a longer shower and need revitalizing energy, or Blissful Blue for a peaceful morning yoga session, or Dusk in the Wild - Relaxation and Sleep for a longer, restorative bedtime practice (20 minutes).
Meditation in General
🧘 Davidji is also known as the Velvet Voice of Stillness. He’s a true guru who’s written a number of books and apprenticed for ten years at the Chopra Center before embarking on his own. Both his library tracks and live meditations are an enhancement to the practice. This is an 8-minute practice good for anytime from morning meditation to evening wind-down shower meditation.
🕊 Traditional, long-time mindfulness teacher Tara Brach still drops tracks on Insight Timer, and they’re perfect if you’re looking for straightforward-but-still-heartfelt mindfulness meditation guidance.
Other Juicy IT Teachers
😊 Georgiana Petec’s live face yoga classes are a must-attend. They are only 30 minutes long, and she’s lovely. Not only do you do the work to reduce lines, wrinkles, and gray hair, and improve circulation and lymphatic drainage, but it feels so good and makes a wonderful midday break or after-work transition (depending on the time).
🌊 Sarah Blondin’s tracks are a delightful way to feel back into yourself. It’s like being held. They are less instructional and more reflective and poetic. Highly recommend. This is one of my favorites for hot bath meditation, and this 8-minute track is de-lovely in the evening before bed.
🪄 If past life healing, Reiki, and moon cycles are your jam, Carrie Suwal is a sweet teacher to follow. She does a lot of live sessions, which I Iove attending, especially right before bed. Her static tracks are transformative as well; try her moon cycle manifestations.
One Tip at a Time
Sleep Hygiene
Daytime Light is Key for Better Sleep at Night
Day time is the light time. Natural light during the day is essential for sleeping well at night. If getting outside first thing in the morning (within an hour of waking up) is an option for you, just do it. Getting outdoors during the morning means maintaining our circadian rhythms (or resetting them). The amount of light we get during the day affects when and how we will begin getting sleepy.
The National Sleep Foundation recommends being outside for an hour each morning and each afternoon. Cheers if that’s realistic for your schedule. If not, then little breaks outdoors throughout the day can supplement. If you cannot go outside in the morning, then rest assured that bright light exposure indoors is also beneficial. And if Vitamin D is on your radar, absorbing sunlight through the eyes and the skin is also on your to-do list.

🔕 Perhaps we’ve unintentionally corrupted the word “intentionally” the way we corrupted “manifest.”
This article from the Guardian about the pitfalls of living intentionally—which they describe as overscheduling intentionality into our schedules—is thought-provoking, if nothing else.
I am a HUGE proponent of being intentional with our time—in fact, part of this endeavor is helping you all figure out how to carve out time for mindfulness or exercise or reflection or rest or breaking bread with your beloveds, or whatever it is. BUT it never occurred to me that people are so dedicated to this as to forgo all spontaneity and the relationships that prevent us from being isolated. I am certainly guilty of adhering to my routines to the point of rigidity, but I also have an autoimmune disorder, and most of my practices occur at times when most people are sleeping or engaged in their own morning or bedtime routines. I am committed to my Saturday night restorative yoga practice, but if an opportunity came up to spend time with actual people, I’d be all about it.
If we can do hard things while being kind to ourselves, then we can be intentional and flexible at the same time, yes? So I wonder: Are people really overscheduling their lives in service of being “intentional?” Let me know in the comments.
Meditation Gurus Tara Brach and Jack Kornfield are offering a FREE 40-day online training in mindfulness meditation. Daily lessons are 15 minutes or less.
